Sunset together forever

I captured this photo last fall. The horses belong to Wild Mountain Outfitters, who were letting their horses graze in the valley below the towering Mount Sneffle and golden fall colors. As I was photographing this pair, they came up to me and then rested their heads on each other backs just as the sun peaked over the horizon.

Trout Lake Clash of Season

While fishing at trout lake near Telluride, Colorado, I witnessed a large snow storm come down the valley as the thunder echoed off the rock walls.

Last Leaves of Fall

Last year while photographing another location, I found this beautiful little pond, but the images did not turn out. So I decided to try and capture this photo again, and it came out just as I wanted. The clouds glowed orange in the sky as the small pond mirrored the surrounding landscape with a unique aspen tree growing overhead.

The Dancing Forest

As I stood in the woods, the sun began to rise over the mountain peak. The forest was illuminated with gold as the sunburst showed through the dancing aspen trees. The exact reason for the aspens curving is unknown, but it's most likely due to the land moving. Taken near Telluride, Colorado.

Bridal Viel Fall

After a long hike to the top of Bridal Viel Falls near Telluride, Colorado, we made our way back down the road. As I walked, the sun began setting behind the ridge creating the perfect lighting for this fairytale-like scene. The building is Smuggler-Union Hydroelectric Power Plant.

Highway 145 Sunset

One of my last fall photos for the year is a shot I captured while driving back from Telluride, Colorado, to our campsite. The dramatic lighting flooded the valley with gold as the road winded into the trees.

The Mystical Falls of Colorado

One of my favorite waterfalls is located near Telluride, Colorado. I will not be giving the exact location due to the area. I found a few fallen leaves and scattered them on a nearby stump, which lined up with the magnificent fall in the background just as the sun began to rise.

First light on Last Dollar Road

Last year I captured one of my most famous photos of this exact scene. This year I set out to recreate the photo. It began at 4:00 am in the morning, waking up on Lizard Head Pass. The ground was covered in frost, and the temperature was 26 degrees. We packed up our pop-up camper and drove into Telluride, Colorado, where are dropped off the camper and set out on Last Dollar Road. We reached the summit by 6:00 am, and I walked down the road to set up the scene. Everything was lined up as the sun began to rise over the mountain, shining bright golden rays that pierced the cold air and lit up Wilson Peak along with the surrounding mountain range.

A perfect sunrise over the Mount Sneffels range off Rd. 7

Last summer, while photographing wildflowers on Rd. 7, I found a small road that accessed the stream near Mount Sneffels and Blue Lakes Trailhead. I knew it would be a perfect location to capture during the fall. The stream lined up perfectly with the white-capped mountains as the golden sky matched the flaming aspens during first light.

A Dance under the Sun

A photo of the famous dancing aspens I captured while exploring the location near Telluride, Colorado. The warm rays flooded the valley as the light illuminated the gold forest around me, and I listened to the light rustle of the quaking aspens.

Mount Wilson First light from Last Dollar

The morning began with us waking up at 4:30 am, locking up our camper, and heading towards Last Dollar Road. After a long drive in the dark, we made it to the location, and the weather did not look like it was going to cooperate. I had two scenes in mind; I set up for the first photo and waited as the snow fell. The sun rose, and to our surprise, it lit up Wilson peak and the surrounding area with a moody orange light. I captured both scenes just as the light faded away.
